The Eastern Plains (Llanos Orientales) are one of those places where nature does not hide. During 4 days and 3 nights in the summer season, the savanna fully opens up, and wildlife concentrates around the water, making every tour a real opportunity for observation in their natural environment.
Llanero safaris are the heart of the experience: vehicle outings and walks to see capybaras, deer, caimans, anteaters, and birds in the wild, in settings that change with the daylight and the characteristic sunsets of the region.
The journey is complemented by navigation on rivers like the Cravo Sur and Caño Canacavare, horseback riding through the savanna, walks through gallery forests, and moments of sport fishing. There are also opportunities to see the territory from another perspective, with views that show the true scale of the Llanos.
More than a destination, it is a way of being in the savanna: unfiltered, unhurried, and with nature setting the pace for each day.

How to get there?
The main way to reach Yopal is by air. From Bogotá, there are direct flights lasting approximately 1 hour, operated regularly by Avianca, LATAM Airlines, and Clic Air, landing at El Alcaraván Airport (EYP).
From other cities in Colombia, access is usually via a connection in Bogotá, from where you take a direct flight to Yopal, depending on the availability of routes and frequencies of each airline.
Once in Yopal, the transfer to the accommodation within Casanare is by land and takes approximately3 hours, crossing landscapes of open savanna, livestock farming, and ecosystems typical of the Eastern Plains.
Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to the heart of the Plains
Flight from the city of origin to Yopal (not included).
Reception at the airport and transfer to the accommodation (approx. 3 hours).
Welcome lunch.
Bongo on the river: Our first immersion in the Orinoquía begins by navigating in a traditional canoe through the calm waters of the river. During the tour, nature becomes the protagonist: birds, riverside landscapes, and the immensity of the plains will accompany us as we discover the natural wealth of this territory. The experience culminates with one of the most emblematic shows of the region: a plains sunset that dyes the horizon in golden and orange tones.

Day 2
Between Trails and Infinite Skies
Breakfast at the accommodation.
Ecological walk: We will walk along trails surrounded by tropical vegetation to enter an ecosystem full of life. During the walk, we will have the opportunity to observe birds, learn about the characteristic flora of the region, and connect with the sounds and rhythms of plains nature.
Lunch at the accommodation.
The afternoon will allow us to calmly enjoy the landscapes surrounding the accommodation before living a special experience at sunset.
Campfire under the stars: We will go to the white beaches of the Cravo Sur River to watch the sunset and enjoy an evening around the fire. When night falls, the sky of the Plains will reveal one of its greatest treasures: thousands of visible stars in an environment free of light pollution.

Day 3
Traditions of the Plains

Plains horseback riding: We will explore the open landscapes of the Orinoquía on horseback, one of the most authentic ways to get to know the territory. Accompanied by local guides, we will travel through savannas, natural trails, and settings that reflect the essence of plains culture.

Chill afternoon: A space to enjoy the destination at your own pace. You can relax by the pool, explore the surroundings, watch birds, or simply contemplate the landscapes that make this place a perfect refuge to disconnect from the daily rhythm.

1. Why are the sunsets so intense in the Llanos?
The completely flat geography of the savanna allows an uninterrupted view of the horizon. This makes it easier for sunlight to scatter more evenly, generating sunsets with very marked colors and quick transitions that change minute by minute.
2. How does wildlife behave in the open savanna?
Without dense forests or natural barriers, wildlife roams freely over large expanses of territory. It is common to observe species such as capybaras, deer, and birds of prey, especially during the hours of greatest activity: dawn and late afternoon.
3. Why does the Llanos climate change so much between day and night?
The day is usually warm due to strong solar radiation and direct exposure of the terrain. At night, the temperature drops due to low humidity and the ground's poor heat retention, generating a cooler sensation in contrast to the day.
